Among the Giants of the Julian Alps
Difficulty Level: 2/5
Duration:
Guided by: Licensed PZS Mountain Guide
Some trails impress with their altitude, others with their views. Slemenova Špica captivates with the perfect combination of both. This is one of Slovenia’s most beautiful panoramic hikes, where every step unfolds beneath the impressive walls of Prisojnik and the Mojstrovka peaks, surrounded by landscapes that have inspired hikers, photographers, and mountain lovers for generations.
We begin our journey at Vršič Pass, Slovenia’s highest mountain pass, where a pleasant alpine trail leads us through high mountain meadows, larch forests, and unforgettable viewpoints. The route is not technically demanding and is suitable for a wide range of hikers, making it a perfect choice for those who want to experience the beauty of the Julian Alps without challenging climbs.
At the summit of Slemenova Špica, one of the most breathtaking views in the Slovenian mountains awaits. The majestic north face of Jalovec rises before us, offering a truly iconic alpine panorama. On clear days, the surrounding peaks are beautifully reflected in the small mountain ponds beneath the summit, creating scenes that remain unforgettable.
Along the way, we take time to enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere with stops at Koča na Gozdu and Poštarski dom on Vršič. After completing the hike, we finish the day in Kranjska Gora with a well-deserved meal at Pr’Martinu.
